We're launching .Dev — REVA's first product engineering club

Why we built .Dev, what makes it different from every other college club, and what we're building in our first cycle.

3 April 2026

Most college clubs give you certificates. We give you GitHub commits.

Today we're officially launching .Dev — the Product Engineering & Innovation Club at REVA University. This is the club Kartik and I wished existed when we started. It doesn't look like any other club on campus, and that's intentional.

Why we built this

We've both competed in hackathons, built side projects, contributed to open source, and worked on real research. Every time we came back to campus, the gap was obvious — there was no place for students who wanted to build actual products, not just attend workshops and collect certificates.

So we designed .Dev from scratch around one question: what would a club look like if it operated like a real product startup?

What .Dev actually is

The heartbeat of the club is the 6-week product cycle. Every cycle, a cross-functional squad of 4–5 students takes a real problem, goes through discovery → design sprint → build → demo day. On demo day, the product is live, deployed, and pushed to our public GitHub org.

No slides. No mockups. Working software.

How membership works

You don't join with a CGPA. You apply with a one-page project idea. If you get in, you're an Associate. You ship one product, you become a Builder. You mentor others and lead cycles, you become a Senior Builder. Leadership is peer-elected after 3+ cycles.

Every role is earned. Nothing is appointed.

Industry collaboration

We're building a three-tier partnership model with real companies. Tier 1: companies give us a problem brief, we build an MVP. Tier 2: a senior engineer joins a cycle as an embedded mentor. Tier 3: we contribute to their open-source repos and members get credited contributors.

We're already in conversations with our first partner. More on that soon.

What's next

Cycle 1 kicks off in May. Applications open next week. If you're a CSE or ECE student at REVA who wants to build real products with real stakes — watch this space.

All our work is public at github.com/DotDev-Club.

Build. Ship. Innovate.
